The BE-Xchange is the first salvage and reuse tool, supporting a circular economy, that is part of an overall project workflow! Below is an overview of the Xchange features. Owners, property managers and designers can post products and materials that are coming out of a space that’s being renovated – or they can find products and materials to use in their projects. The BE-Xchange is the FIRST reuse tool to include a take-back aggregator – a way for people to group small quantities of materials for take back, when they are geographically close. This saves carbon and saves money for those who are taking back the products or materials.
1. BE-XCHANGE HOME: You will always find the link to the BE-Xchange at the top right of the page. Just click here any time you want to go there.
2. OPTIONS WITHIN XCHANGE: The top left tabs within the BE-Xchange let you change windows between All Postings (default open screen), My Postings (the things you listed), Watchlists (things you are interested in but haven’t yet replied to) and Resources – guides, tools and services to support circularity – salvage and reuse.
3. CREATE A POSTING: Click this blue button when you want to post something. See more about that in the next section.
4. SIMPLE SEARCH: Type here to search for something – you can try keywords or any phrase. And you can use:
5. FILTERS: to narrow the search.
6. POSTING TYPE: You can search here if you want to narrow your search in different ways. Public means all listings. Nonprofit means the items are meant to be taken by nonprofits. Internal means that when you click here, you will ONLY see things that are meant to be redistributed within your organization. This is most common within higher education, corporate campuses and retail chains who have branded interiors whose items can’t be given away. General Contractors (or owners) who want to have an easy way to track materials across locations or job sites can use Internal for that too!
