If you click the 3 dots next to any of the column headers and get the drop-down menu, you can click on ”Group by…” and that reorganizes all the items in your list by the column header you are currently in and shows you the number of items in each group.
- REORGANIZE ITEMS IN A LIST: First, select the column header that you want to use as the organizing category. If you want to reorganize the list by manufacturer or by product code or type – click on the 3 dots associated with that specific header. Then, in the drop-down menu, click on “Group by…(the name of that column)” and then you will see that the list is now reorganized, and it shows you how many items are in each group. You choose to see more or less detail as in #2 below. This is different than just clicking on the column header itself to sort by that category. Sorting doesn’t group things within the list – it just changes the order of the entire list by that name.
- TOGGLE TO OPEN OR COLLAPSE A GROUP: When you reorganize the list into grouped items, they become ‘nested’. You can toggle the little arrow to the left of each row to open it so you can see all of the items within that group, or leave it closed if you just want to know how many there are.
