When you click on a product in our Catalog or in a Material List, the Product Detail Page (PDP) opens up. However, if you go directly to the Catalog (rather than getting to the Catalog from within a Material List), you will not see all of the workflow detail that’s shown in the image below. This is because workflow is project-specific and items in the Catalog don’t show project specific info unless you are getting to the Catalog from a Material List first!
The PDP is where most of the Workflow happens. Below is an overview of all of the elements that you’ll find in this view and how to use them.
A side note: One thing you’ll notice is that not all PDPs are the same! You can read more about this in the Catalog section – but there are 3 variables that affect what you see. 1st, if the info you see is coming ONLY from a certification body – that is not actually a “product”. Certification bodies all define product differently. What you see there will be minimal info only related to the certification itself. 2nd, if the manufacturer is sending their data directly to us to manage – that is the most complete information as you see below. That means design info (color, pattern, style etc) will be showing AND all the certifications will be completely merged into one streamlined view! This is very hard to do just with certifications (but we’re working on that!). Lastly, if a product is User Entered – that may not even have certification information, but the “User Entered” tag will show up in the catalog.

1. HERO IMAGE: When we have a direct data feed from the manufacturer, this image will be from them. User Entered products might show any image that the User added.
2. PRODUCT DATA OVERVIEW: This section is the summary of all information related to the product itself. Manufacturer name, Product Name, Colors, etc and description. Under the description are 3 sub-areas:
a.) Certification Badges b.) Product Details and c.) Sustainability. Each section – a, b and c – all open up to reveal more detail. You can see this in the following section. No more bouncing around, all of the information is visible in ONE place, but includes links to source certifications directly.
3. ORGANIZATION ONLY INFO: This section is only visible to employees within your company. This is where design firms can embed keynotes, product codes and categories that are their own special numbering systems. NOTES in this section are ONLY visible to staff within your company – Notes below are visible to anyone invited to the Material List (internal or external collaborators).
4. PROJECT TEAM WORKFLOW INFO: This section is visible to anyone who has been invited to this Material List – whether internal or external team members. This is where most of the workflow happens – designations, approvals, attached documentation, Notes (general) and Spec Notes as well as Comment threads that are specific to this product. See following pages for more detail on all of these!
5. RATINGS & REVIEWS: This is your moment to share feedback to manufacturers and the rest of the community! Ratings and reviews default to anonymous in the catalog but are automatically attributed only within your company so that your colleagues know who to follow up with if they have questions! You can opt in to share your identity in a review, but if you do, that will be publicly displayed in the catalog. Feedback could be about the product itself (durability, installation, performance) or about sustainability (need for transparency or certification, etc).
IMPORTANT TO KNOW! When you look at products in our catalog, you will see any notes that have been added. This info is NOT VISIBLE to anyone outside your company! Our platform is smart enough to know who you are, so allows you to see your company’s notes even in the catalog. Privacy is sacred to BuildingEase and we will not violate yours!
